2nd Annual Magnablend Clays for a Cause Tournament
Raises $40,000 for CASA of Ellis County
Magnablend, a wholly owned subsidiary of Univar, set a record at its second annual Clays for a Cause Sporting Clays Tournament on Friday, April 25 and raised more than $40,000 for CASA of Ellis County. The event drew close to one hundred shooters to the Alpine Shooting Range in Fort Worth to raise funds and have a little fun while making a difference in the life of a child.
“The success of Clays for a Cause means so much to Magnablend, but it means even more to the children of Ellis County,” said Scott Pendery, Magnablend President. “The money raised will help support the work of CASA to provide a voice for the protection, care and welfare of every child in need.As this event continues to grow we’ll be able to help even more people throughout our community.”
CASA is a network of 933 community-based programs that recruit, train and support citizen-volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in courtrooms and communities. Volunteer advocates—empowered directly by the courts—offer judges the critical information they need to ensure that each child’s rights and needs are being attended to while in foster care.
“CASA is extremely appreciative of the donation that Magnablend and their friends made to us as a result of their Clays for a Cause event,” said Rhodie Rawls, CASA of Ellis County Executive Director. “This is the single largest donation received by CASA of Ellis County since our beginning in 2004. We are truly overwhelmed and so grateful for all of those who came out to support CASA and the abused and neglected children of Ellis County. The effect of this donation will be felt throughout the lives of the children we serve for many years to come, and Magnablend and its supporters can take pride in having truly made a difference in changing the future of the children who need us to be their voice.”
The tournament had a full flight with more than 20 teams participating. Congratulations to our champion shooters; 1st place Chris McAfee, 2nd place Jeffrey Snider, and 3rd place to Michael Hernandez. Everyone enjoyed the lively competition in support of a good cause.
The event also featured a live auction and raffle. Items included two Beretta shotguns, Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers tickets, a one-week stay in Florida and a guided fishing trip on the Texas coast.
“We are most appreciative of the support we’ve receivedfrom our sponsors and supporters for Clays for a Cause,” said Pendery. “A special thanks goes out to our event sponsors: N2IT, Coal City Cob, Dupont, WaterMark, Brownlie& Braden/Cotton Creek Capital, Ranger Pinnell, Timco Logistics, Citizens National Bank of Texas, Direct Service Company , Jungbunzlauer, JMN Specialities, WIPCO, Air Quality System, Vintage Bank, Parrish Hare Electrical and Quickway Signs.”
This is the second year for the sporting clays tournament, sponsored and organized by Magnablend. Last year, the tournament raised more than $33,000 to assist the Nevil family following an auto accident that left 12-year-old Lauren Nevil in critical condition and in need of extensive medical and rehabilitation services.
